I went because it won in Cannes but as the man next to me said at the end "well, that was 2 hours of my life gone!".

Could be the cultural context or the religious back story or it could be just the weirdness of the whole thing but essentially I couldn't understand the movie at all. Several people left during the movie, most after the catfish-oral-sex scene, and I think maybe it was just too much for me. Or perhaps I expected a big "wow" factor because it wont he prize at Cannes. being postive some of the scenes were really pretty and well-shot.
